About Acronicta ovata Grote, 1873
Acronicta ovata, commonly known as the ovate dagger moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. Its distribution ranges from Nova Scotia south to North Carolina, extending west to Texas and north to Manitoba. The wingspan of adult individuals measures between 28 and 35 mm. Depending on location, adults are active on wing from June to September. This species produces two or more generations each year. The larvae of Acronicta ovata feed on the leaves of beech, birch, chestnut, and oak.
