About Acrobasis caryivorella Ragonot, 1887

Acrobasis caryivorella, commonly known as the pecan nursery casemaker, is a species of snout moth belonging to the genus Acrobasis. This species was first described by Émile Louis Ragonot in 1887. It is recorded from southeastern Ontario, Canada, and the eastern United States. This moth produces between two and four generations each year. Its larvae feed on species from the Carya and Juglans genera. First generation larvae bore into the new growth of their host plants. The species overwinters in the larval stage. Larvae from subsequent generations hollow out the interior of host nuts and pupate inside the hollowed nut.
