About Acompsia cinerella (Clerck, 1759)

Acompsia cinerella (Clerck, 1759) is a moth species with a 16–19 mm wingspan. Individuals of this species have long, upwardly curved labial palps. Their forewings are brownish in color and lack any distinct markings, though Meyrick's description notes forewings are rather light greyish-brown, with stigmata that sometimes appear faintly darker. Hindwings of this species are grey. It is quite similar in appearance to Helcystogramma rufescens. This moth is distributed across most of Europe, and is not found in Portugal or Iceland. It inhabits a wide range of areas, with a preference for locations with dense vegetation or bushes.
