About Acmispon junceus (Benth.) Brouillet

Acmispon junceus (Benth.) Brouillet has two synonyms: Lotus junceus and Syrmatium junceum. This plant is a species of legume, and it is commonly known by two common names: rush broom and rush deervetch. It is endemic and native to California. Within the state, it occurs along the northern and central coast, as well as in the coastal mountain ranges. Its habitats range from beaches inland to serpentine slopes and chaparral. This plant is a hairy perennial herb that grows prostrate or spreading. Its stems are lined with leaves, each made up of small oval leaflets. Its inflorescence holds up to 8 yellow pealike flowers, and each flower reaches up to about one centimeter in length. Its fruit is a small beaked legume pod.
