About Acleris nivisellana (Walsingham, 1879)
Acleris nivisellana, commonly known as the snowy-shouldered acleris moth, is a moth species that belongs to the Tortricidae family. It is native to North America, with recorded ranges covering southern Canada and the northern United States. In the eastern part of its distribution, it extends as far south as Maryland and Virginia; in the western part, it reaches as far south as California. This species has a wingspan of 15 to 17 millimeters. Adult moths can be observed in flight between March and November, and the species likely produces two generations each year. The larvae of Acleris nivisellana feed on plant species from several genera: Crataegus, Malus (including Malus pumila), Physocarpus malvaceus, Prunus pensylvanica, and Sorbus (including Sorbus scopulina).
