About Acleisanthes longiflora A.Gray
Lectotype (designated by Smith (1976: 272) as holotype, here corrected according to Article 9.10 of the ICN): UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Texas, Valley of the Limpio; and near San Antonio, 25 August 1849, Wright 310 (Exsiccata 599) (GH 00037284 [image!], only the right - side specimen, image available at https: // s 3. amazonaws. com / huhwebimages / 70 CA 156 C 592 F 4 F 1 / type / full / 37284. jpg; isolectotype: US 00102870 [image!], only the left - side specimen, image available at http: // n 2 t. net / ark: / 65665 / 38401 b 176 - acb 1 - 4531 - 8 ff 3 - ecf 5 f 7 e 7394 f). Typification of the name Acleisanthes longiflora: In the protologue, Gray (1853) cited collections including Wright 599, Wright 1704, Riddell and Lindheimer (from Texas), and Gregg (from Northern Mexico). Exsiccatum no. 599 (barcode GH 00037284) is a combination of two of Wright’s original materials, nos. 928 and 310. Smith (1976: 272) selected the right - side specimen of GH 00037284 (corresponding to Wright 310) as the holotype. This exsiccatum matches Gray’s protologue and aligns with the current concept in Acleisanthes (as seen in Jepson Flora Project 2022, Spellenberg 2003). According to Article 9.6 of the ICN, both collections on exsiccatum no. 599 (Wright 928 and Wright 310) are syntypes. According to Article 9.10 of the ICN, the typification by Smith (1976: 272) should be corrected to a lectotype.
