About Ackama paniculosa (F.Muell.) Heslewood
Ackama paniculosa (F.Muell.) Heslewood is a medium to large tree with a buttressed base. It sometimes grows over 40 metres tall, and the butt can exceed 90 cm in width. Its trunk is cylindrical, covered in soft corky bark that is greyish fawn in colour. Its leaves are composed of groups of five to seven leaflets, and occasionally only three leaflets. The leaves are hairy, opposite, and toothed, and measure between 5 and 12 cm in length. Creamy white flowers grow in compound panicles, and they appear in November. The fruit of this species is a red capsule that holds a small number of hairy, oval, flattened seeds, each 1 mm long. Fruit maturation occurs between February and June.
