About Aciura coryli (Rossi, 1794)

Aciura coryli is a species of tephritid (fruit fly) belonging to the genus Aciura and the family Tephritidae. The larvae of this species develop inside the flowers of Phlomis and Ballota, which are genera in the plant family Labiatae. This species is distributed across the entire Mediterranean region, and it is most commonly collected in areas with abundant populations of its host plants. While published records of Aciura coryli occurring in Central Europe (Austria, Hungary, and the Czech Republic) had not been confirmed for decades, newer reports provide evidence that the species is still present in this Central European region.
