About Achimenes erecta (Lam.) H.P.Fuchs
Achimenes erecta (Lam.) H.P.Fuchs has the synonym Achimenes coccinea, and is commonly called Cupid's bower, nut orchid, and magic flower. Despite its species epithet 'erecta', this is a trailing achimenes. It bears bright red flowers and dark green foliage. Its reddish green stem holds clusters of hairy, heart-shaped leaves. Individual flowers only last a few days, but new flowers are produced continuously from June through October.
