Achalinus rufescens, described by Boulenger in 1888, is a species of snake that belongs to the family Xenodermatidae. It is also commonly called the rufous burrowing snake and Boulenger's odd-scaled snake. This snake species is distributed in northern Vietnam, as well as southern and southeastern China—its range within China covers Hong Kong, Hainan, and extends eastward to Zhejiang.
