About Acanthodoris rhodoceras Cockerell, 1905

Acanthodoris rhodoceras Cockerell, 1905 is a species of sea slug, which is a dorid nudibranch. It is a shell-less marine gastropod mollusc that belongs to the family Acanthodorididae. This species was originally described from a specimen collected at Dead Man's Island, San Pedro, California. It has been reported to occur from the Umpqua River, Oregon, south to Bahía de los Ángeles in the Gulf of California, Mexico. DNA sequences for the 16S ribosomal RNA, Histone H3 and CO1 genes have been obtained from specimens collected at Pillar Point in San Mateo County, Ellwood Boulder Field in Santa Barbara County, and Hazard Canyon in San Luis Obispo County.
