About Abelmoschus sagittifolius (Kurz) Merr.

Abelmoschus rhodopetalus is a perennial herb. It usually grows between 40 and 100 cm (16 to 39 inches) tall, and can occasionally reach a height of up to 200 cm (79 inches). Its vegetative plant parts are covered in dense hairs. This species is native to tropical and subtropical Asia, with its range extending east to northeastern Australia, and it most commonly grows in subtropical habitats. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant. In traditional Chinese medicine, different parts of the plant have distinct uses: the root is used as a tonic, the leaves are used to remove toxins and expel pus, and the fruit is used to soften the liver and nourish the kidneys. In Vietnam, this plant is eaten as a health-benefiting food.
