About Abaeis boisduvaliana

Scientific name: Abaeis boisduvaliana (also referred to as Eurema boisduvaliana), commonly known as Boisduval's yellow, is a butterfly belonging to the family Pieridae. This species is distributed from Costa Rica northward to Mexico. Rare stray individuals may occasionally be seen in southern Florida, while it is a regular migrant to southeastern Arizona, southwestern New Mexico, and southern Texas. Its habitat includes subtropical forests, forest edges, scrublands, roadsides, and pastures. The wingspan of this butterfly ranges from 38 to 51 mm, or 1.5 to 2.0 inches. In southern Texas and areas further north, adults are active on the wing from April to November. In tropical regions, adults are active on the wing year-round. Adult butterflies feed on flower nectar, and larvae feed on plants from Cassia species.
