About Abaeis albula

Abaeis albula, also known as Eurema albula and commonly called the ghost yellow, is a butterfly species that belongs to the Pieridae family. This species ranges from southern Texas, where it only occurs as a rare stray, south through the West Indies, tropical mainland Central America, and tropical mainland South America, all the way to Brazil. Its habitat includes tropical forests and second growth areas. The wingspan of adult ghost yellow butterflies measures between 30 and 50 mm, which equals 1.2 to 2.0 inches. In tropical regions, adults are active and on wing throughout the entire year. Adult butterflies feed on flower nectar, while caterpillar larvae feed on plants from Cassia species, including Cassia fruticosa.
